If we are doing a full pack, a day or two before the move is common, so everything is boxed and sealed before the truck shows up. For a partial pack we can often do it the morning of. The more notice you give us, the smoother the timing.
Yes, unpacking is optional and you can add it to any packing job. We can unload the boxes, set things on counters and shelves, and take the empty boxes and paper away so you are not buried in cardboard.
A box packed well travels well. Padding the breakables, filling the gaps, and labeling each box by room means less risk on the road and a faster, calmer unload at the other end. It is the part of the move people underestimate most.
